Gifts for Dog Owners Who Have Everything: 12 Prints They’ll Actually Hang
They already own the leash, the bed and three sweaters with paw prints. Here is a gift that ends up on the wall instead of in a drawer — chosen by breed and by sense of humour.
The short answer
Give a piece of art of their breed. If they laugh at their dog’s crimes, go for a Booked mugshot print — the dog in an orange jumpsuit with a case number and a charge like “illegal snorting”. If their home is calmer and darker, a Noir Pets portrait in cold, cinematic light. For a gift, choose the framed print in 16×24″: it arrives ready to hang, so they don’t have to do anything.
How to choose: their breed, their humour
People who “have everything” usually don’t lack things — they lack things that are about them. For a dog owner, nothing is more about them than the dog. A print of their exact breed feels personal without being a custom-photo project, and unlike another toy it stays in the house for years.
Ask yourself one question: does this person tell stories about the dog’s crimes — the stolen sandwich, the 5 a.m. barking, the sofa that is no longer theirs? Then the funny route is safe. If they are more into design, films and dark interiors, pick the moody portrait. Both are original Precinct Nine artworks, printed to order.
For the owner with a sense of humour: Booked mugshots
Our Booked collection puts dogs where they clearly belong: in front of a height chart, in an orange jumpsuit, holding a placard with a case number and the charge. Every breed has its own crime, which is exactly why owners recognise their dog in it.
Case No. 0922 — illegal snorting in public. The one every pug owner sends to the group chat.
Case No. 0901 — snoring in the first degree. Bat ears, deadpan stare, zero remorse.
Case No. 0902 — grand theft sandwich. If you own a Lab, you know.
Case No. 0903 — excessive charm, resisting a bath. The softest suspect in the line-up.
Case No. 0905 — tunnelling under the blankets. For anyone who shares a bed with a sausage.
Case No. 0920 — escape artist, three prior jailbreaks. Husky owners will not argue.
Detective’s tip
Read the charges before you choose — the joke lands best when it is true. All 24 dog breeds and their crimes are in the Booked collection.
For the design lover: Noir Pets portraits
The Noir Pets portraits are the quiet side of the precinct: one dog, cold blue night light, soft motion and a lot of mood. They work in living rooms, bedrooms and offices where a funny print would feel out of place — and they read as art first, “dog picture” second. There are 39 dog breeds in the collection.
Warm, loyal, a little melancholic — the Lab as a film still.
Sharp ears and a guard’s stare. Strong in a hallway or home office.
For the owner of the smartest dog in any room.
A white cloud in blue darkness — beautiful above a light sofa.
Ice-blue eyes in ice-blue light. Pairs well with the Husky mugshot.
Proof that a pug can be serious. For about one frame.
Which size and finish to give
Size. 12×18″ fits a desk, shelf or narrow hallway. 16×24″ is the safe gift size — it works above a dresser, a console or a bed. 24×36″ is a statement piece for above a sofa; choose it only if you know their walls.
Finish. The framed print (solid wood frame in black, white or walnut, acrylic cover) is the easiest gift: it arrives ready to hang. Stretched canvas looks like a gallery piece and needs no frame either. Fine-art paper is the lowest price and perfect if they like choosing their own frame. All finishes are described on the FAQ page.
Ordering for Christmas
Every print is made to order: production takes 2–7 business days, then delivery takes about 2–8 business days in the US and 10–30 internationally. To be safe, order by the first week of December for the US and by mid-November for other countries. You can ship it straight to their address at checkout.
Make it a pair (or a gallery wall)
Two prints of the same dog — the mugshot and the noir portrait — make a great “before and after” pair: the official record and the version the dog believes about itself. For a bigger wall, mix one dog with our Detective series: animal detectives in trench coats, rain and neon. The suspect and the detective, side by side.
FAQ
Something about their dog that they wouldn’t buy for themselves: an original art print of their breed. A funny mugshot print or a moody portrait ends up on the wall for years, unlike another toy or accessory.
Booked has 24 dog breeds and Noir Pets has 39. If the breed is missing, tell us — new breeds are added to the collections over time.
16×24″ is the safest choice — big enough to be art, small enough for almost any wall. Choose 12×18″ for a desk or narrow spot and 24×36″ only if you know they have a large empty wall.
